Vetri-Science Vetri Lysine Plus Bite-Sized Chews is a L-Lysine supplement for cats and is recommended as an aid in the treatment of Feline Herpes Virus. Feline herpes virus (Rhinotracheitis virus) is an upper respiratory virus of cats. The disease is very common among cats, especially in environments where there are multiple cats present, or where new cats are constantly interacting. The virus is spread through the air and replicates in the upper respiratory tract.

Supplemental administration of L-Lysine has been shown to reduce the severity and duration of feline herpes virus infections. Additionally routine administration has been shown to reduce the incidence of flare-ups.

L-Lysine: Amino acid that support antibody, hormone and enzyme production. L-lysine also supports collagen formation and tissue repair. It also competes with L-arginine, the amino acid required by the herpes virus to replicate.

DMG: An intermediary metabolite (a substance that is rapidly broken down into other vital substances in the body) that is naturally produced by the body in small amounts. DMG provides useful building blocks that support the production of vitamins, hormones, neurotransmitters, antibodies, nucleic acids, and other metabolically active molecules.
