Propionibacterium Acnes Immunostimulant
Neogen Vet EqStim Injection is a USDA approved immunostimulant as an adjunct to conventional therapy in the treatment of Equine Respiratory Disease Complex (ERDC). EqStim is effective in increasing the rate of recovery when used in conjunction with antibiotic or hyperimmune therapy in the treatment of primary and secondary bacterial and viral infections associated with ERDC. It provides the safest, most controlled cell medicated immune response available amoung licenced immunostimulants. Administer IV only. Do not use in conjunction with glucocorticorids or other immune suppressors. Steroid therapy should be withdrawn at least 7 days before initialing this therapy.
EqStim is an extremely stable product that requires only room temperature storage and doesn’t contain albumins. Has been used safely in millions of animals, and does not have a high potential for causing anaphylaxis. With EqStim therapy, less dosage and less frequency of antibiotic treatment are usually required.
Directions:EqStim must be administered by the intravenous (I.V.) route. Shake well to obtain a uniform suspension.
Dosage:
- Foals: 1 ml
- Older horses: 1 ml per 250 lbs body weight
- Repeat the dosage at day 3 (or day 4), at day 7 and weekly as needed.
Contraindications:Do not used in conjunction with glucocorticoids or other immune suppressors. Steroid therapy should be withdrawn at least seven days before initiating this therapy.
Cautions: The effects of this product have not been studied in pregnant animals. Do not use when pregnancy is suspected or a cardiac condition exists. There may be a minor rise in temperature, chills, temporary inappetance or sluggishness a few hours after injection.
Store at 2°-25°C (35°-77°F) until first used, then store at 2°-7°C (35°-45°F). Do not freeze.
Anaphylactoid reactions may occur.
Antidote: Epinephrine
